"It still looks dirty," I thought to myself, as I sprayed and began scrubbing the once white plastic chair with more vigor. For a good five minutes I had been working on this one chair that had started out mostly hazed with a green coating of the tiny plant life forms that had come to live on its surface during its winter storage in a damp and shady spot. Now it was merely a dull gray, and scrub as I might I could not get this to give way to the white that the chair had once been. If I could not get it back to white, it was not good enough in my mind.
